(While I'm sure this theory has a snowball's chance in hell of being canon, my friend brought this up as an interesting theory that can explain why the Spartans are stronger in the novels than they are in the anime, games, and live-action Halo media.) My friend had an interesting idea that he shot by me one day, when we were talking about Spartan abilities in Halo: he noted that there was a large discrepancy in terms of Spartan abilities between the novels and the visual media.
